Overall Purpose: In coordination with the external Billing Company, supervises all facets of the billing operations for P3 Health Partners' medical groups, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations. Education and Experience: --- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience) in accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field --- Minimum of 7 - 10 years' progressively responsible work experience including supervisory experience in accounts receivable and medical billing --- Strong computer skills and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs (specifically Word and Excel); Experience in Athena a plus --- Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: --- Strong knowledge of the entire medical billing processes to include charge entry, claims filing, payment posting, insurance denials, accounts receivable follow-up, and patient billing and collections --- Strong knowledge of all medical insurance payors --- Strong knowledge of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services compliance requirements --- Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding and medical terminology --- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable procedures and requirements --- Knowledge of the principles of financial management enough to direct staff and coordinate related aspects involved with the fiscal requirements of the company --- Knowledge of the company's billing/financial practices to develop related billing/financial processes and analyze billing/financial data --- Knowledge of computer systems (including practice management and billing systems), spreadsheet and financial systems programs and applications --- Skill in identifying and resolving billing/financial problems;--skill in giving effective and persuasive oral presentations to a variety of audiences --- Ability to work in a high-stress environment --- Ability to use interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, staff and external contacts Essential Functions: --- Implements and monitors mechanisms and controls to ensure appropriate billing and payment cycles, and accurate and timely billing, in accordance with established internal and third-party payor requirements-- --- Develops and oversees the implementation of appropriate billing procedures, and procedures for follow-up on third-party approvals and collection of overdue patient accounts --- Works with coding department to identify and resolve billing issues to ensure compliant, timely billing --- Coordinates and participates in problem resolution concerning the recording or provision of services rendered which impact the ability to collect charges and/or the willingness of patients to pay as required --- In coordination with the Billing Company, coordinates the assignment of bad debt to collection agencies --- Identifies and evaluates the effect of external forces on the company (e.g., change in regulation, legislation, competition, etc.). Ensures the Chief Financial Officer and Controller are advised of external issues that may affect company operations/profitability. Recommends alternatives/solutions, as necessary --- Oversees the preparation and maintenance of standard and custom reports as are necessary to carry out the functions of the department; prepares periodic reports to management, as necessary or requested --- Oversees all aspects of the Group Accounts functions to ensure billing and receipt of payment, in accordance with the vendor contract --- Oversees the training and auditing programs for billing personnel and clinical staff --- Coordinates setup of new payors in billing system including fee schedules and allowables --- Provides weekly and monthly reporting to Finance, Medical Operations and other specified Senior Leadership EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER We're an equal opportunity employer.
